Mallika Sherawat starrer Murder has now clocked 20 years of release and the actress reflects how shooting with Mahesh Bhatt shaped her as a women she is today.
Mallika Sherawat on doing bold scenes in Muder
In an interview with hauterrfly, Malllika opens up about her upbringing and shares how working with Makesh Bhatt has shaped her. She shared, “I have met some fantastic men in my life. They have shaped me to be the woman that I am. Mahesh Bhatt sahab has given me wings. He has made a huge contribution to help me get out of those patriarchal shackles. When I was working on Murder with him, we would have long conversations, and his thoughts on things, even the women in his house, were very progressive. Because Bhatt Sahab is a very progressive man, so that brought a lot of change in me.”
She also recalled shooting bold scenes in Murder and shares, “All girls are very safe on his set. I felt very safe even doing those bold scenes in Murder. Of course, one feels a little uncomfortable because there are so many people from the unit. But both Bhatt Sahab and Emraan Hashmi made me very comfortable. Emraan was an absolute gentleman.”
Looking back on her career in the industry, Mallika discussed the obstacles she encountered, pointing out that her daring decisions were not always appreciated by audiences in 2004.
The actress will next be seen in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video which releases on 11 October.
